  Illinois is not usually thought of by most as mining country, but some of the most important events in the history of miners in the U.S. took place in Illinois. From the Battle of Virden, to the Centralia Mine disaster, the struggles and tragedies of Illinois miners are many. Some of that is captured in this solemn location, which features a moment at the grave of American labor activist, "Mother Jones".
